First lines are very important - or this is one of the 'rules' we're told when we start writing.
I opened a book to start tonight and burst out laughing. The first line is:
"So."
That's it. The first line. Made me laugh! When you're good, you can break the rules.
And on a different note, I'm writing a gazillion false starts at the moment. RWA's short story contest closes soon, and I've always put in a story. The theme is moonstone, and this year I have seven false starts and no story.
Looks like it may be a year without a Little Gem...and moonstones are lovely, I'd so like to have something to contribute. No even the beach is inspiring me this time.
I must have other stories than need finishing *sigh*

ReplyDeleteI like it!
I hope one of the 7 starts turns into something amazing for you in time to enter the Little Gems. Good luck!
Hi Anita,
DeleteI hope something happens about the Little Gems but I'm not holding my breath. I'm cutting it too fine now I think.
Thanks for stopping by.
