Hot hot hot

I am reading a bunch of books by an author who I think writes hot, hot, hot - Kaliana Cole. The series is the Liberty Springs, Wyoming, series. Just read books 1 & 2 and am moving onto book 3 now.

Liberty Springs is a town where sex is natural and any combinations of sexual partners is accepted. Wow, what a place to live! Book 1 (No Bag Limit) has 3 brothers after the perfect woman - for all of them! Book 2 (Hook, Line and Sinker) is a male and female with a D/s flavour. Book 3 (Tag and Release) is (I think) 2 brothers and a woman - I'm a bit scared to peek because once I start, I'm hooked. I've had two very late nights finishing the last two books. I know it's going to be late again tonight...

Call me corny, but I think the fishing titles are fun. And that's exactly the kind of writing it is - fun, flirty, earthy and compelling.

Thank goodness Book 4 isn't out yet!! And I hear there's a Book 5 too and I'm rubbing my hands with glee!

Lacking emotion and visceral responses

Okay, so I've got some feedback from a published author on a short story for an anthology. And I have a couple of tells when I should be showing (of course, my old foe!) but I also lack emotion and visceral responses. Gosh, I'm so glad she didn't read my earlier stories where the visceral responses were zero! At least I have some now - just not enough!

So, more emotion ... here I come.

But you know what I noticed when I started editing? Getting emotion in there hurts my brain! It's like I have to drag through my memory to try to find the words to put on the paper. I hope it's going to get easier or I'll have one sore head!

Working on web page

Can you believe it? It's been a long time coming but I'm learning and doing. It'll probably be a shocker but hopefully I can make it work! Fingers crossed.

So, what do I want on the web page? What's my tag line? What branding am I after? What colours? What fonts?

OMG who knew there were so many questions! Or so many legitimate answers.

And I thought this was going to be easy. Silly, silly me.

New Year's Resolutions

I'm not great at these but I'm posting them so I'm accountable.

  • Get to a weight of my two favourite numbers (don't want to say the amount!)
  • Finish 2 short stories
  • Finish "The Awakening"
  • Finish "Past Lives"
  • Start something new
  • Work on a balance between work and life
  • At least 1 fancy restaurant meal (I would have this per week, but others say per year!)

So that's it for 2012. Wish me luck!
